Lessons

Watching the Sugar Ray Leonard vs Tommy Hearns fight inspired me to create this painting. Here are life lessons that came to mind as I painted these legendary boxers.

  1. Hard times can create great men:

  2. When we face challenges and difficult times, it can actually be an opportunity for growth and development. In fact, many successful people have overcome adversity to become who they are today. It's important to keep pushing through tough times and keep a positive attitude, because you never know how that struggle might help shape you into the person you're meant to be.

  3. There’s always another side to the coin— every champ needs a challenger, you have to sacrifice to win:

  4. Success often comes with a price, and sometimes that means making sacrifices and facing challenges head-on. But it's important to remember that even the most successful people need someone to push them and challenge them to be better. So, don't be afraid to take risks and embrace challenges, because you never know what you might be capable of achieving.

  5. Embrace the suck:

    1. This might sound a little weird, but hear me out. Sometimes we have to do things that aren't fun or enjoyable, but that doesn't mean we can't learn to appreciate them. Embracing the suck means learning to find the good in tough situations and taking them in stride. It's all about keeping a positive attitude and staying focused on the bigger picture.

  6. Always respect your opponent:

  7. Whether it's in business or in life, it's important to always show respect to the people you interact with. Even if you don't necessarily agree with them or their actions, treating others with respect can go a long way in building strong relationships and gaining the trust of others.

  8. This is what it takes:

  9. Success isn't just handed to you on a silver platter. It takes hard work, dedication, and a willingness to go above and beyond. Sometimes that means putting in extra hours, taking on difficult projects, or stepping outside of your comfort zone. But if you're willing to put in the work, the results can be truly rewarding.

  10. To be hard you have to do hard things:

  11. No one said success was going to be easy. Sometimes it takes doing things that are uncomfortable or challenging in order to grow and improve. But it's important to remember that pushing yourself beyond your limits can lead to personal and professional growth that you might not have thought possible.

  12. One foot in the future, one foot in the now:

  13. It's important to have big goals and ambitions, but it's equally important to stay focused on the present moment. By keeping one foot in the future and one foot in the now, you can work towards your long-term goals while still making progress in the present moment.

  14. Visualize success:

  15. Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated when the going gets tough. That's why it can be helpful to visualize what success looks like for you. Whether it's a dream job or a personal goal, picturing what success looks like can help keep you motivated and focused on what's important.
